Mark the beginning of a historic moment in the fight for climate justice with the Opening Ceremony for the ICJAO. This event will bring together global voices, cultural traditions, and collective action to set the stage for weeks of impactful advocacy.
Our event begins with a warm welcome from our moderators, followed by a traditional Kava Ceremony, symbolising unity and the Pacific Island heritage of our movement. This cultural opening sets the tone for an inspiring lineup of speeches and performances.
️ Keynote speeches will highlight the urgent realities of the climate crisis, featuring Ralph Regenvanu, Special Envoy for Climate Change for Vanuatu, and Vishal Prasad, Global Citizen 2024 Recipient.
Grassroots activism and legal climate action will be explored by Pia Hollenstein, KlimaSeniorinnen Switzerland, Raki Ap, United Liberation Movement of West Papua, and Kjelld Massoud Kroon, Dutch Caribbean activist.
Performances include a spoken word by Zaire Krieger and music celebrating Indigenous culture, resilience, and environmental stewardship.
Closing reflections and a performance by Honourable Teburoro Tito, Kiribati Ambassador to the UN, underscore the power of unity, followed by a reception.
Join us in building momentum for climate action, amplifying the voices of frontline communities, and fostering solidarity among attendees from around the world. Together, we can ensure the ICJ hearings are a turning point for climate justice.
