WYCJ Asia participates in international webinar
WYCJ representatives, Ms. Aditi Shetye and Ms. Dulki Seethawaka participated in an international webinar organised by the Centre for Environmental Law and Policy (CELP) of the University of Colombo and Commonwealth Climate Cohort under the Association of Commonwealth Universities in partnership with the University of Mauritius. It was intended to create more awareness about WYCJ campaign within the academic community and gain further support from participants all over the world.
The webinar titled “The UN Climate Change Regime Post – Glasgow” was conducted on 19th of January. Prof. Daniel Bodansky, Regents Professor of Arizona State University in the United States was the guest speaker of the session and Prof. Ellen Hey, Professor of Public and International Law of the Erasmus School of Law, University of Rotterdam in Netherlands was the discussant. The forum was moderated by Dr. Kokila Konasinghe, the first advisor from the WYCJ Asia front. She is the Founding Director of CELP and a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Public International Law of the Faculty of Law of University of Colombo.
After Prof. Bodansky and Prof. Hey expressed their views on the aftermath of COP26 – Glasgow, WYCJ representatives were invited to discuss about the global youth led campaign. Ms. Shetye is a lawyer from Mumbai, India who has pursued her LL.M. in Global Environmental Law and Governance. Currently, she is a Research Fellow at the United Nations (UNEP) Ozone Secretariat. Ms. Seethawaka is a M.Phil. in Law candidate from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and Senior Executive Researcher at CELP. She is also the Strategic Coordinator of the WYCJ Asian Front.
